I base my classes on my students' interest and goals. I am flexible with my lessons and will change activities if they aren't working. I like to be creative and make my lessons as fun as possible. I try to vary the types of lessons as well. One day will be a writing focused lesson and the next will be a role play. I also like to incorporate games into each lesson if I can.
I have a degree in Linguistics and French and a TESOL certificate. I have 7 years of experience as an ESL teacher and tutor. I have taught all ages and levels. I recently spent a year in Tokyo, Japan teaching English to children and adults both in-person and online.

Excellent! Good initial call to review the timeline for future calls.
Vocabulary use is great. We will work on improving pronunciation.
I am currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Toronto. I started knowing Annastasia while I was doing my master degree at the University of Victoria and I was enrolled in a program which was developed to help international students improve their oral English skills. Annastasia is a very kind and communicative person, and we had very great time together in that full year.
We had diverse learning environments - in coffee shops, library, dinner and etc, which helped broaden my vocabulary and experience in using the language. I was once invited to Annastasia's family during the summer holiday. I got know many of Annastasia's friends, who are also native English speakers. I always felt encouraged when communicating with Annastasia.
I would highly recommend Annastasia for being your tutor! She's very nice and always be ready to help you when needed. You are very welcomed to contact me for more information (lliang.uzh@gmail.com).

Hello, I met Annastasia on a one-on-one tutor program for the international student during my first-year Ph.D. studies at Uvic. She is kind, gentle and very helpful with my oral English improvement. I remembered there were three girls in our group, me, a Korean girl and Annastasia. We met once a week and communicate on a variety of topics. I was quite impressed that one time we met in her dorm to cook pancakes. Although the pancakes were not well made, the experience was quite interesting. By doing things together, I am immersed in authentic culture in Canada. I do recommend Anna as an ideal tutor to choose from since she not only has her expertise in linguistics but also a good communicator who is caring, articulate and with an open mind.
Annastasia is extremely proficient as an ESL instructor. She has excellent knowledge of her subject and is very supportive and helpful.
I met Annastasia at Mentor program of a university during study abroad in Canada.
She was always willing to invite me to some event (such as pot luck party, watching movies, hiking, cooking, and so on ), even though my English- speaking skill was poor. And through these events, she taught me practical English patiently. I really appreciate that to her.
Also, she had taught English in Japan. She always snuggled up to her students and tried to find the best way to teach English. I am assure Annastasia would be a great tutor.
