About Sophia
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in guitar performance and have been teaching for over 8 years, beginning in 2015 at a local community center. Since then, I’ve helped students of all ages unlock their musical potential through structured, engaging, and student-focused lessons. My own guitar training covers multiple genres, including rock, classical, folk, and blues. This range allows me to adapt my teaching style to match student goals, whether they want to strum around a campfire, master solos, or prepare for music exams. Every lesson combines practical skill-building with creativity. I’m known for being patient, flexible, and passionate about making music accessible. I love seeing students grow more confident with each session, and I believe consistent, enjoyable practice leads to the most meaningful progress. My goal is to make the guitar an exciting and empowering instrument for every learner.

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level, starting with core fundamentals such as guitar tuning, posture, and basic chords. I make sure every beginner starts comfortably, developing muscle memory and rhythmic awareness without pressure. We move at a steady pace, allowing clarity and fun to guide your early progress.
As you advance, we dig into popular strumming patterns, chord progressions, and fingerpicking styles. Intermediate learners focus on transitions, scales, and building accuracy in both lead and rhythm playing. We also integrate light music theory so that you not only play music but understand its construction.
Creative expression is always part of the experience. Lessons include opportunities to learn songs you enjoy, improvise, and write your own music if desired. Whether you're learning acoustic or electric, I emphasize technique and musicality together, helping students prepare for solo playing, jamming, or even performing live.
