How to Become a Mastering Engineer

Like many music jobs, there are two main paths into the industry: through formal education, or through hands-on experience and self-learning. In both cases, a natural passion for music and good listening abilities are important. Those skills can’t be taught.

Education Requirements

Formal education pathways into mixing and mastering are procured through A-levels, college, university, and music technology programmes. You may also find success with courses at FE and HE levels in Electronic Engineering.
