I believe in student centred learning though building positive relationships with my students and working together to build a customized personal learning plan. I want my students to be comfortable and happy while realizing how much fun learning can be! Most of my experience is in teaching ESL so I can teach speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and listening and focus on the aspects that meet the students' needs. French is my second language so I also offer French classes, along with Social Studies, Indigenous Studies, English Language Arts, and English Literature as I hold a Bachelors Degree in Education and a TEFL certificate. I prefer using Total Physical Response and Communicative language teaching methods as I like my classes to be interactive and engaging. Students can participate in discussion, role playing, reading articles, viewing videos and even study song lyrics. As I believe task based learning is an effective approach, I will often give my students opportunities to create projects such as poster presentations, and speeches. My classes are geared towards beginner and intermediate levels.
I’m from Saskatoon, Canada and after completing high school, I spent two years in Europe teaching English to young learners. At the same time I was practicing my French and learning German! I then completed a Youth Care Work certificate program and decided to start a career in Education. While studying, I volunteered for several programs, helping immigrants adapt to Canadian society. I also spent seven years working as a support worker (supporting adults with intellectual disabilities). In 2009, I participated in a six month volunteer program (which allowed me to teach in Moncton, New Brunswick and Ghana, West Africa) and earn a certificate in Community Development and Cross-Cultural Relations. After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Education and my TEFL certificate, I moved to Korea to begin my journey as an English teacher. I have about seven years of teaching experience in schools, private academies and through private tutoring.
Fun Facts about me: I speak 4 languages! I love traveling, hiking, camping, yoga, music, and I'm learning how to knit and play the violin :)
I have been working as a teacher for about seven years. I also worked as a support worker (supporting adults with intellectual disabilities) for seven years. I have volunteered in Ghana, West Africa and spent the last 5 years teaching EFL in South Korea.
My goal is to really connect with my students, I want to get to know them and have a lot of fun! I love teaching ESL online with skype. I use an online program that includes lots of conversation, reading, grammar, listening and writing. I can focus on whatever you need.
