About Marly

I graduated with a degree in Architecture and Design from Carleton University in Ottawa, ON, and have since transitioned into the world of UX design. I received my UX Design certification in 2023, but my passion for creating compelling, user-centered designs has been driving me for over three years. During this time, I’ve had the privilege of working with five startups from their pre-seed stages, helping them scale and succeed through thoughtful design. My journey into UX was fueled by the belief: "If it's not broken, make it better!" This philosophy inspired me to establish an online community that empowers early-career transitioners. We focus on lean and agile practices, UX research, and mastering essential tools like Figma and Illustrator. However, mastering tools alone doesn’t make one a UX designer. That’s why I emphasize teaching the principles and methodologies behind UX strategy. My mission is to help designers reduce the cognitive load on users, ensuring that products not only meet their needs but also delight them. Outside work, I lead a vibrant youth mentorship organization focused on community outreach, shaping young minds for a brighter future. Let's innovate together and make a difference through design!

About the lesson

Teaching Philosophy: My approach to teaching revolves around open discussions and interactive sessions that encourage maximum student participation. I believe in focusing on one topic at a time and then expanding to related concepts, helping students connect the dots for a deeper understanding. This method fosters a comprehensive grasp of UX design. I offer lessons on Figma tailored for all levels, along with portfolio reviews. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, I'll guide you through your UI/UX design journey. I will guide you on the principles and best practices as they relate to responsive and accessible design. Throughout the session, I'll provide constructive feedback on your work to help you grow as a UX designer, while providing tools and material to reference post-session for added help. For Whom: These lessons are perfect for career changers, high school graduates, and university students. I love working with students because their enthusiasm and fresh ideas are truly inspiring. Sharing my knowledge and learning from my students is a rewarding experience that benefits everyone involved.
