About Laura
Teaching is my 2nd career, I worked retail since college. I asked myself what other profession would I enjoy? I decided to become a teacher, I have many relatives who are teachers and they love it. I received my elementary teaching certification in 2007 and began my teaching career. I have been teaching for the past 15 years, I absolutely love it and can't imagine my life without my students and their families.

My lessons are tailored to each students need, I like to find out where the deficiencies are and start from there. If, for instance, it's a reading skill like comprehension that the students needs help with. We will read a story (first, a subject that interests them) together, as we read the story I will ask questions along the way. If they don't know a certain word or a phrase I like to show them a picture so that have a reference and continue reading. At the end of the story I will ask more questions (characters, setting, main idea etc.) to raise their comprehension of what they just read.
