Methodology I will establish a fun, supportive, encouraging, and highly flexible atmosphere for all grade levels as I utilize a two-pronged learning experience which fuses together "Course Knowledge" with "Practical Application."

The first prong, "Course Knowledge," allows me to teach students an advanced understanding of the course material. Whereas, the second prong "Practical Application" teaches the student my proven strategies of application which ensures that advanced course knowledge will directly translate into high grades.

The "Practical Application" portion is the key, as many students understand the course material, however, when they are tested they have trouble converting all their hard work learning the course material directly into high grades. Most teachers overlook the fact many students understand the material quite well yet cannot convert this advanced knowledge directly into advanced grades.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I have been tutoring for almost 4 years now and my interest began at the University of Toronto during my undergraduate degree. I found myself reading and writing for close to 6 hours a day and I was helping friends get ready for tests or assignments. Every single test, assignment, or task I was required to complete for my degree was basically an essay that stemmed from reading and research. After I graduated, COVID caused the world to turn upside down and I decided to use my passion for reading, writing, and helping others to help pay my student debt. Next thing I knew, it was a few years later and I had over 20 students a week while completing my Master of Teaching graduate degree back at the University of Toronto. Signing up to Superprof was the best decision I’ve made and lead me to my career as a teacher.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

I absolutely love tutoring and nothing will ever beat the smiles on my students’ faces when all their hard work finally pays off, they get the mark they wanted, gain the skills they desired, and are accepted into the University or program of their dreams! I have a passion for critical thinking and self-improvement, so naturally I love to help alleviate the stress of the parents and students and see them get better with every class. Additionally, I love reading and writing! I get to have fun discussing thought provoking texts, classic literature, and I even learn a thing or two from my students along the way with their thoughtful insights.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Well, I am not sure I am a “Superprof,” but my students and their parents certainly make me feel like one! I have lots to learn and improve upon, but to answer the question, I suppose what makes me a “Superprof” is how much I care, how hard I try, and how I am highly adaptable I am to each student’s unique set of skills and needs. I really feel that I can reach students in a way most people find challenging. I am old enough (31) to relate and be friends with their parents, but also young enough where the students feel like I can understand them. This grants me the opportunity to connect with them in a way their teachers or parents find difficult. This trust and connection really allows me to unlock their abilities and having the right fit with the tutor is one of the most import elements of success. I really feel like one of my best skills is getting the most out of my students and helping them be their very best.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

I have always been inspired by journalists, writers, and activists who use the power of their pen to change the world for the better, like Malala. Additionally, I have been fortunate to study under some of the best professors in the world at the University of Toronto. Lastly, I grew up playing hockey and basketball every day and these athletes were not just role models, but I looked at them like superheroes when I was a young boy. All of these role models showed me that if you work incredible hard, are extremely dedicated, and never give up, you can accomplish anything and sometimes even make history along the way. They have inspired me to be the best and every day I wake up trying my absolute hardest to be the best “Me” I can be. I work very hard to be the best role model I can be for the youth and I take a tremendous amount of pride in this privilege.
  • What are your keys to success?

I do not think there are secret or special keys to success, just hard work, dedication, good instruction, adaptability, maximum effort, resilience, determination, and the willingness to take chances. However, when it comes to the role of a teacher, my biggest key to success is inspiring the student and instilling confidence as most of my students are very smart and have all the skills but just seem to lack the confidence in their abilities. Also, adapting and providing specialized instruction to each student and their own unique needs is essential. With respect to academics, I really like to focus on critical thinking and structure, as I find these are the keys that unlock all aspects of learning and allow the student to really flourish. Lastly, simplifying the instruction and breaking it down into small bite sized pieces without compromising the content is essential. This allows me to scaffold their learning and build upon each lesson without overwhelming them.
