About Thea

I am a professional and experienced Mandarin Chinese teacher,
and in this platform, I am a Mandarin conversation coach, offering personalized speaking tutoring for everyday conversations and specialized scenarios (academic, business, and exam preparation).

With 12 years of teaching experience, including 8 years teaching GCSE, A-level, HSK, and Pre-U in UK secondary schools, I hold a fully qualified QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in the UK and certified Mandarin teaching credentials from China.

I am also a Pearson Edexcel GCSE Chinese Examiner and have taught in international schools in the Philippines and China. My students have successfully advanced to top UK universities, including Cambridge and Oxford, to further their Chinese studies.

Currently based in Oxford, I offer Mandarin speaking lessons worldwide.

About the lesson

My Mandarin Chinese courses are designed for both those who require specialized Mandarin learning and Mandarin enthusiasts. (Note: Currently, I only offer Mandarin Chinese speaking lessons, not Cantonese.) There are no age or skill level requirements for students. If you're looking for quick, effective progress in a short time, my teaching style might be a great fit for you.

Each lesson is typically 1 hour and conducted online via Teams or Zoom. However, if you're based in Oxford, UK, in-person tutoring is also available. The course content is highly personalized and tailored to your learning goals and preferred learning methods. This includes customized lesson materials, teaching approaches, homework assignments, and interaction styles.

I have extensive experience in academic Mandarin teaching but am also happy to teach students with any professional or non-professional goals. I am a friendly and approachable person, fluent in English for smooth communication, though lessons are primarily conducted in Mandarin.

Course Fees:

£50 per hour for a single lesson (each lesson is 1 hour)

Discount for 10-hour package: £450 for 10 lessons (£45 per hour)

Discount for 20-hour package: £800 for 20 lessons (£40 per hour)
