About Lucy

I am a professional ALRA/NYT trained actor, singer and musician (clarinet + sax), and have worked in the profession for over ten years. Since training, I have enjoyed working across stage, screen and radio, both in the UK and internationally, with companies such as Apple TV+, Frantic Assembly, Complicite, Antic Disposition, Vienna’s English Theatre, Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre, Theatre 503 and the Lowry, Salford.

Before training as an actor, I studied BA (Hons) History of Art at the University of Leeds, gaining a II.I.

Some fun facts about me:

I have a very bouncy, gorgeous chocolate Labrador called Rosie
I am a very proud Aunty to four lovely (and lively) nieces and nephews
I love cooking and baking and recently made a Biscoff birthday cake which went down very well (and quickly)
I love travelling, seeing the world and experiencing different cultures
I love the motto ‘progress over perfection’ and try to practice it in different areas of my life, believing it is better to try, fail and get back up, then stand on the sidelines, thinking what if!

Hi there! My name is Lucy. I am a professional ALRA and NYT trained actor, singer and musician, with extensive experience across stage and screen, including work for Apple TV+, Antic Disposition, Theatre 503, The Lowry, Salford, the Vaults and Vienna’s English Theatre.

Alongside my performing work, I have been working as an acting and performance coach for over ten years, working with children, young people, and adults alike, and I am passionate about sharing what I have learnt from my time as an actor with the students I teach.

My approach

I enjoy working with all ages and abilities and tailor my lessons to suit the needs and experience level of the students I work with. My lessons are creative, practical, informative, and fun, and my aim is for my students to walk away feeling empowered and energised from the work we have explored together, with a toolbox of skills and experience which they can take into their life and work.

I am an experienced drama teacher and educational assistant and have worked with children and young people between the ages of 3-18, at mainstream and SEN schools. I have an enhanced DBS (dated April 2022)

For the past five years, I have been working as a corporate role-play actor, facilitator and ILM recognised coach. I enjoy working with adults as much as younger people and believe the communications and performance skills I teach can equip business leaders to feel their best, whether that be presenting to large conference halls, speech writing, confidence building or pitching for new business.

LAMDA Exams

I teach all levels within the LAMDA Performance and Communications syllabi, with exam subjects that include: Acting | Devising Drama | Mime | Verse and Prose | Reading For Performance | Public Speaking

I have been teaching LAMDA exams for many years, and have experience teaching students of all ages, whether they are completely new to the exam process or have been studying for a few years.

My students have a 100% pass rate, with students gaining a mix of distinctions and merits.

As someone who grew up receiving LAMDA tuition, taking exams in acting, verse and prose, mime and devising, and gaining my LAMDA Grade 8 / Gold Medal, I understand the process very well and recognise how working on the critical skills required for LAMDA exams can be incredibly rewarding and help build confidence in many areas of a student's life.

GCSE / A Level

Having studied received top grades in Theatre Studies and English at GSCE/A Level, I understand the level of work and understanding required to meet exam criteria. We can work together to explore the work and theory of practitioners such as Stanislavski, Brecht and Meisner; text analysis on work by playwrights such as Shakespeare, Ibsen and Chekhov; and prepare for practical presentations and scene study classes.

Drama School and NYT Auditions

I am familiar with the drama school and National Youth Theatre audition process, having successfully been through both myself. I was a NYT member for three years and performed in several of their productions, as well as spending time applying and auditioning for a number of the top UK drama schools, before gaining a Lionel Bart scholarship to attend ALRA.

Whatever the situation, I can work with you on audition technique and preparation; choosing pieces which suit you really well and which offer great contrast; spending time developing character and text analysis before rehearsing them in the space, ready to perform; interview and audition prep, practical techniques to calm the understandable nerves; and any other areas which we identify would be good to work on, to be in a ‘place of readiness’ to feel your very best and let your work shine.

Industry advice

I worked as a senior agent for five years at acting agency, Rogues and Vagabonds Management, and have developed great working knowledge of the acting industry. I can offer insight and guidance in a range of areas whether it be choosing headshots, understanding casting types, curating CVs for maximum impact, showreels or writing to agents and casting directors.

Self Tape Coaching

I have spent time honing my self tape practice and set up, and now regularly tape for major shows produced by companies such as BBC, Netflix and Apple TV+. Whether it be a tape for a TV or film project, a stage audition ‘on camera’ or a commercial tape, we can work together to create work which will hit all the spots required and get you noticed.

I can work with you via Zoom as you prepare to tape, exploring areas such as character development and text analysis; during the process of taping, whether you need someone to read and play against, or coaching advice; and in the editing process, whether you need advice on the best take to choose or editing support. Self taping can often feel scary and intimidating, but I would love to show you ways to feel empowered within the process and capable of sending off work which you feel incredibly proud of!

Performance Coaching for Corporate Business

I have extensive experience working as corporate role-play actor, facilitator and ILM recognised coach. I have studied executive coaching for leadership and management and regularly work on projects with clients across the public and private sector including PwC, EY, BT, YouTube and the NHS.

Whether it be delivering a speech for a conference, pitching for new business or working on personal impact in the workplace, I can help you excel, through working on performance and communications skills such as:

Clarity and diction | public speaking | speech writing | body language | facial expression | pace and energy | vocal inflexion and intonation | mindset and self-confidence
