About Jules

Like so many others, I began college at 17 and obtained my first degree in what was a double Theatre and Education major at 21 but not even three months after, unlike the grand majority, I decided to forego the more traditional route of joining the work force and instead begin a Masters degree all the way in San Francisco, California.

And that's exactly what I did!

Joining what was at the time a very small screenwriting program at the Academy of Art University that very fall, I quickly discovered that at 21 I was the youngest in my program by at least 6 years but, by taking on a heavy load of courses each semester- including during an accelerated summer period- at the ripe age of 23, I had completed it as not only one of the youngest but the first to do so within that timeframe in the history of the school.

Determined to not stop there, I hit the ground running and a year after I graduated, began remotely working for a production company headquartered in New York City as a writer, living the dream I always knew I wanted but only recently had the foresight to take a leap of faith toward.

About the lesson

I really most look forward to passing on and passing down the love I've always had for screenwriting to the next generation of artists who I know will be and in most cases, often already are even more driven to strive to create stories derived from their own personal realities that will inspire even more so, my first lesson will always, always start with asking my student what they're passionate about.

I firmly believe that storytelling needs to be fostered not forced, and beginning with what the student loves, wants to talk about or wants to see more of gives me pretty good insight into their point of view along with where they stand which I again regard as the solid base tool to creating any good story, narrative, film or television show.
