About Richard
My background includes teaching English writing at universities and college; operating a technical communication business (nuclear station manuals and computer software manuals), legal writing, television documentary scripting, and writing and editing recreational articles. I hold Honours Bachelor of Arts (English), Master of Arts (English), Bachelor of Laws and Barrister at Law degrees, have been a Senior Member of the Society for Technical Communication, and have spoken at technical writing conferences in Canada and the USA.

My client and I discuss my client's needs. I focus on fundamentals of English usage and clear writing, including logic, rhetoric, structure and grammar. By recommending and working with English usage texts, I help my client learn not just how to write in English, but also how to go about learning how to find answers to technical usage questions. I critique my client's writing to help my client develop a knowledge base. Tutoring sessions are held during evenings at my office.

Details
There is no charge for cancellations emailed to me the previous day. My regular fee applies for skipped sessions that were not cancelled in advance.
My rate for technical/professional writing ($40/hr) is higher than my rate for basic English writing instruction ($25/hr).
