About Ann

Hi! My name is Ann and I'm an illustrator, cartoonist, and writer in Vancouver, BC. I was born and raised in Taiwan, which means I'm bilingual in English and Mandarin. I trained and worked as an architect for over a decade, so I have a keen eye for design, but my passion lies in creating art. I think making art is fun and exploratory, and helps us understand ourselves and the world better. My practice takes many forms, including painting, ink and calligraphy, paper-cutting, zine-making, screen printing, linocut, and digital drawing. About the lesson

My teaching is geared towards the beginner level in watercolors, pencil and ink drawing, zine-making, cartoons, and simple printmaking such as linocut and cyanotypes. I've had experience leading groups of children from grades K-7, and the occasional adult. I set clear project goals for each lesson , but also maintain flexibility to cater to what you'd like to get out of a class. Artmaking is about experimenting and having fun!

I have over a decade's experience as an architect in the design industry, and am currently a freelance artist. I'm bilingual in English and Mandarin, and can easily cater to students who speak either language.
