About Riley

Hi, I’m a piano teacher with 3 years of experience and a Graduate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy. I specialize in helping students develop both strong technical foundations and a deep emotional connection to the music they play. I believe piano is not just about hitting the right notes—it's about telling a story, expressing a feeling, and discovering your unique musical voice. In my lessons, we focus on key fundamentals like pedal technique, dynamic control, and tone shaping. I guide students through detailed work on touch, phrasing, and balance to help them find clarity and beauty in their playing. My approach is patient, personalized, and responsive to each student’s learning style and goals. Whether you're playing a simple piece or tackling an advanced work, I’ll help you find the emotional depth behind the notes. I work with students of all levels, from young beginners to adult learners returning to the piano. I strive to make each lesson feel like a creative journey, not just a practice session. We build strong habits, explore expressive possibilities, and celebrate progress every step of the way. About the lesson

My teaching approach is designed to help students not only play well, but perform with confidence and artistry. I focus on building a strong foundation in technique while also addressing the mental and emotional side of performing. We work on managing performance anxiety through breathing exercises, mental rehearsal, and mindset coaching. I guide students in developing stage presence so they feel calm, focused, and expressive in front of an audience.

Memorization is a key part of my method. I teach practical strategies that make it easier to retain music and perform from memory with clarity and confidence. For students preparing for recitals, exams, or church services, we create a plan that includes mock performances, goal setting, and constructive feedback. I work especially well with The Exam Taker and The Church Musician, helping them move past nerves and deliver meaningful, polished performances.

Lessons are always encouraging and tailored to each student’s goals and experience. I help you feel prepared, supported, and proud of your progress. You’ll learn how to communicate through music and make a strong impression on stage. Every step of the way, I’ll support you in becoming a confident and expressive performer.
