About Sarah
I have been working as a certified teacher for over 7 years, but I have been involved in the broader field of education for over 15 years. I got my start working in Summer Camps, where I saw the value of building positive relationships with learners to inspire genuine curiosity and learning. This is something that I have maintained through all of my years, and any of my students can attest that I am a teacher who makes them feel seen/heard in their interests and concerns. I love teaching all topics, but Science/Biology are my favorite, because they allow me to take highly complex ideas and break them down until they can be simply understood. I have a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Teaching, and less formally, hold an interest in outdoor education and hands-on learning.

While I'm happy to work with all subjects for younger grades (Math, Language, etc. for Grades 1 - 6), my specialty is really all things Science/Biology (Grades 7 - 12).
Depending on the format of our meetup (virtual or in-person) we might use a variety of different learning materials and techniques. A meet-up will always start with a brief conversation of your goals/topics for our session and a review of any relevant content that we may have covered previously. I'm happy to re-teach topics you've covered in school, help you work through homework questions, or review/prep you for upcoming tests and evaluations.
Typically, my methods involve a lot of pictures and whiteboard writing, and we'll often help you build some notes that you can use after the session for review. I'm happy to adapt to your learning styles and interests as much as possible!
