About Olivier

I have been teaching French as a Foreign Language for over 10 years and I can say with certainty that the best way to learn a language is through conversation. I had the opportunity to help many students from very different cultural and professional backgrounds and from various origins: Italian-speaking, Spanish-speaking, English-speaking, German-speaking, Slavic, Chinese-speaking, etc. In addition, I speak English and Spanish and am currently learning German. My interest in literature and the French language allowed me to acquire a perfect knowledge of the rules of spelling, grammar and syntax. French is my native language, therefore, I have no difficulty in teaching it.

About the lesson

My experience of more than 10 years in teaching French as a foreign language has allowed me to develop a method based on conversation. If the conversation may seem better suited to students with a high level of French, I can guarantee that it is the same for beginners. I obviously accompany the conversation with written work that allows the student to fix his knowledge. Regarding the learning of grammar, spelling and syntax rules in general, I provide detailed documents during each lesson allowing the student to complete his knowledge. The major difficulties encountered when learning a new language are based on confidence and motivation. This is the reason why, my method allows the student to develop his confidence by directly confronting the language during the conversation. In terms of motivation, there is no point in instilling rules by having them repeated during class. Students can integrate them perfectly from a detailed document which, as I have already indicated, is provided to them beforehand to be worked on outside of class. Their perseverance and commitment generally testify to their motivation. The questions about the rules that naturally flow from this will be seen, explained and reused in class during the conversation. I often use one or more spelling or grammar rules as a topic of conversation. Students can thus consolidate their learning of the rules by practicing their vocabulary and developing their arguments.
