About Vallerie
I am an undergrad student who currently studies Electrical Engineering at Northwestern University (Top 6 Best National University Rankings by U.S. News and World Report) with a full-ride. I am an enthusiastic learner, especially in the field of Mathematics. It has always been my passion to teach students, particularly in Primary or Middle school, Mathematics. I am familiar with the IGCSE Curriculum, Checkpoint, and IB Curriculum from High School, Pre-Calc, Calc I & II, and college Single/Multi-variable Calculus; and Olympiad Mathematics, though I am quick to adapt with other curriculums.
Mathematics Experience :
-> Strong foundation in Mathematics from consistent and structured practice in KUMON for 8 years.
-> Won 40+ Gold, Silver, Bronze Medals in International Mathematics and Science Olympiads, since Grade 6
Teaching Experience :
-> Taught Advanced Math and Olympiad Math in Superprof Asia for 6+ months, 4 primary students (5 star reviews).
-> Taught as an assistant Advanced Mathematics teacher at the KUMON Institute for 6 months (Completer of the KUMON Mathematics course).
-> Volunteered and started a non-profit to teach kids in orphanages and refugee centers, mathematics, science, English, and geography since 2020 - 2024.
-> Volunteer tutor for a before-school program in local primary schools near my University.
-> Mathematics teacher's assistant after school during Middle School, and as a Mathematics student tutor at school for my classmates and juniors during High School.
I am experienced in teaching kids and can help students understand patiently and with ease, making learning fun!

Math lessons:
I am flexible with the topic that the student wants to discuss. I can clarify their doubts/struggles in the topic they have in school, or teach them more advanced topics structured with a lesson plan or by choosing new topics to learn; we will do practice questions that I provide, or I can provide homework help ensuring they understand the topics.
Olympiad Math lessons:
Olympiad Mathematics for primary students trains children's critical thinking, reasoning, arithmetic, and logic through math problems. For beginners who want to try learning Olympiad Mathematics, or for experienced competitors who need extra practice and learn special techniques, I'll teach fundamental concepts mainly through solving past paper questions and introducing topics as we go.
