About Helmi
Hey, I’m the quiet type, usually keeping to myself, but I love learning new things. Whether it’s picking up a new skill or exploring something I don’t know, I get pretty excited about it. I also enjoy teaching and sharing what I’ve learned, especially when it’s something I’m good at. I try to be considerate of others and make an effort to be patient. I’m all about listening and being there for people, taking the time to understand where they’re coming from. I believe that sometimes just giving people space and being thoughtful goes a long way. Overall, I’d say I’m more of a “listen, learn, and help when I can” kind of person.

This lesson plan is meant to help you get comfortable with basic Bahasa Indonesia, especially common daily words and phrases, while also learning how Indonesian pronunciation is different from English.
We’ll start with useful vocabulary like makan (eat), minum (drink), jalan (walk), and simple phrases such as Apa kabar? (How are you?), Saya capek (I’m tired), or Terima kasih (Thank you). The focus is on practicing how to say these words naturally, not just memorizing them.
We'll also look at how Indonesian pronunciation is more straightforward than English. For example, in Indonesian, every letter is usually pronounced the same way — “a” is always /a/ like in makan, not like how English changes “a” all the time.
There will be fun speaking and listening activities to help you feel more confident. By the end, you should be able to handle simple conversations and pronounce Indonesian words more clearly.
