About Livia

I’m a violin tutor with over ten years of teaching experience and a Diploma in Classical Violin. While my roots are in classical music, my heart thrives in exploring crossover styles like Jazz, Rock, Hip-Hop Strings, and World Music. I love showing students that the violin isn’t limited to tradition—it can be bold, rhythmic, and endlessly expressive. In my lessons, improvisation plays a key role. I often use looping pedals to layer melodies, rhythms, and harmonies, creating a full sound and sparking creative ideas. Students learn not only to perform but also to craft their own musical voice. We work on writing original solos, adapting popular songs for the violin, and exploring how tone and texture can transform a piece. I encourage curiosity, risk-taking, and personal expression in every session. For some, that means turning a favorite pop track into a soulful violin arrangement. For others, it’s experimenting with unexpected rhythms or blending genres. I believe in giving students both strong technical grounding and the freedom to push boundaries. Whether you dream of performing on stage or just want to play for fun, my goal is to help you discover what the violin can truly do. Let’s explore this instrument together—and take it far beyond tradition.

About the lesson

My violin teaching approach is built around curiosity, experimentation, and self-guided discovery. I believe learning is most powerful when students feel free to explore and make music their own. Each lesson blends creative methods like sound exploration, musical games, and improvisation exercises that invite students to play with ideas and discover new possibilities. Ear–eye coordination techniques help strengthen reading skills while sharpening listening awareness.

We begin with open string resonance, letting students feel and hear the natural vibration of the instrument. From there, fingerboard mapping turns into a playful journey of finding notes, patterns, and shapes across the strings. Listening skills are developed through exercises that encourage students to notice tone colors, pitch accuracy, and musical expression.

For learners who thrive on independent discovery, I design prompts and challenges that let them guide their own progress. Those drawn to emotional connection can explore pieces that mirror their feelings, learning to shape sound into personal storytelling. Students focused on strong technique receive structured yet creative drills that keep practice engaging.

For those who love creative expression, improvisation becomes a safe space to experiment and break boundaries. Throughout, I encourage questions, “what if” thinking, and joyful trial-and-error. This way, each student finds a unique path to both skill and artistry. My role is to guide, inspire, and provide tools—while they discover the music within themselves.
