About Charlotte

24 years of tap experience.
Passed all BBO (British Ballet Organisation) grades with distinction.
Full marks in Advanced Inter-performance grades 1 & 2.
Competed in festivals for 11 years.
2015: 2nd place at the All England, Bloomsbury Theatre, London.
2018: National champion at the All England, Hackney Empire, London.

Tap is an incredible art form that I have found transformative, both through the act of learning and teaching. One of my biggest inspirations was my tap teacher Jurek Sroka, who taught me tap since the age of three. I grew in confidence the more I learnt, and through competing I built my own unique take on tap performance and what I wanted that to look like. I completed my last national competition in 2018 winning the All England Tap Dance Finals at Hackney Empire, London.
Now I also get the privilege of teaching others, aiming to pass on my unique style, passion & joy for this art form. If you've always wanted try tap dance - even if it's not with me - please GO FOR IT! It's like nothing else.

About the lesson

Wherever you're at in life, all you need in my lessons are a pair of taps, and a passion to learn. If you have these things, then I can't wait to dance with you!

Training lessons will be adapted to each student and what they're looking for. I am currently available to teach 1:1 during evenings & weekends. I teach all levels! I can also support audition routines/ create choreography etc. In person classes are conducted at my home in SW London. If you require a studio, travel to your house or group bookings, please mention when you get in touch & we can discuss the fee for this.

We will assess where you are at through an initial consultation over a call. An ideal way for us to discuss what you would like to gain from our sessions and answer any questions.

General overview: We will work together on the foundations of tap with thorough explanations on technique and approach throughout. We will build our confidence in technique through drills, choreography and variations. Tap is an excellent skill for working on muscle memory. You are welcome to film any of our sessions for you to practise outside. I will work and build on your rhythm, musicality, light & shade, memory, fitness, confidence and most importantly, your unique performance style. We will practise call and response ('having a conversation') and improvisation to music. I play with different choreographic styles for my students, exploring tap through tango, waltz, boogie woogie, lyrical, jazz and more. We can be inspired by music and different stimuli to figure out what you feel passionate about when dancing to ultimately build your own style.

Not to sound like Mary Poppins... but the aim is that I will not need to teach you forever. I will give you the tools and inspiration to continue on your own when the time's right. I hope to build a community of tap dancers so we may all dance together one day!

Perfect! Charlotte has been so much more than just a tap teacher to me—she’s been my biggest supporter, cheerleader, and motivator throughout this entire process. When I resumed tap to prepare for my pageant routine in just six weeks, I hadn’t danced in two years. Honestly, her clear explanations, attention to detail, and ability to adjust choreography to my skill level made all the rust disappear.

There was a point where I felt completely demotivated—not because of my tap sessions, but from the stress of being pulled in so many directions. Charlotte was the one who grounded me and reminded me why I was doing this, encouraging me to keep putting in the effort and commitment.

What makes her even more incredible is that her support doesn’t stop when class ends. She went above and beyond, sending me videos of herself performing the choreography both at full speed and slowed down, taking extra time out of her day to make sure I felt confident.

Charlotte is the reason I’ve fallen back in love with tap. Before working with her, tap was tied to such a difficult time in my life that I never wanted to revisit it. Now, I never want to let it go again!

Perfect! Charlotte has been brilliant in teaching me tap online! She explains steps and rhythms clearly and engagingly, and I often understand concepts in a single lesson that would normally take me weeks to grasp in a group class. David is a learning at a great speed and his commitment to learning tap is a real asset. David came to me as a beginner who began learning tap from online videos before beginning in person classes together. It's been wonderful to see his technique improve, and he clearly has a natural affinity to tap through the way he picks things up. It's been great fun and I look forward to teaching him each week.
