I have taught music in some capacity since the age of 19, from coaching pop singers through their studio recording sessions to running a full-time music school in my neighborhood, to coaching musicians fresh out of university on how to adapt their skills for teaching beginners. I shifted focus in my career to become a writer and psychology student, and find fulfillment in continuing to teach music to adults in my online practice.

Hello! I'm Ambrose, a piano and voice teacher with over 10 years of experience helping adults go from wishing they could play to finding their creative voice and fulfillment with their instrument. As a conservatory graduate in both Piano and Voice performance, the most important thing I have learned is that our creativity is an extension of ourselves, which is why learning music has the power to bring so much wellness and healing into one's life.
On a practical level, I assess all new students to figure out the best approach to move through early obstacles in playing and arrive at a place of self-expression. This happens with a combination of technique, theory, and didactic repertoire so that you feel physically and mentally empowered to understand your instrument at a comfortable level of challenge. I balance recommending songs or books with finding ways to focus on the songs you love.
On an emotional level, I have a psychology and communications background, allowing me a deeper insight into the creative blocks that can appear on our learning journey. If you feel stuck, are afraid to start, or are working through difficult memories or experiences with your instrument, I can help. By offering a safe space for emotions, learning to tune into your body, and finding creative ways to break down challenging concepts; music lessons with me feel like a weekly achievement that builds your confidence and self-expression as a whole.
