About Ben

I have a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Southampton. Previously, I completed a 2-year master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Oxford. Before that, I studied a BA in Philosophy, also at the University of Southampton, graduating with 1st class honours. I won several alumni awards for the highest grades in my year and received multiple prestigious studentships to support my original research.

I have been teaching philosophy to undergraduate university students since 2017. I have experience in lecturing, running discussions between smaller groups, and providing constructive feedback in a 1-to-1 setting. Specifically, I have taught modules on Epistemology, Moral Philosophy/Ethics, Early Modern Philosophy, and Metaphysics. As a lecturer and seminar leader, I have also marked many student essays.

About the lesson

I welcome all students, no matter their educational needs or background. I can offer the following services:

For people with little to no prior education in Philosophy, or those who are merely curious to learn more about it, I offer introductory lessons on virtually any area of the discipline.

For current students, I can supplement your education with additional 1-to-1 and/or group discussions, helping you to get a better grasp of any content that you’re struggling with.

For former students, I can help you to take your knowledge further by offering more advanced lessons, including tailoring my teaching material to match your particular academic interests/specialisations more closely.

For people who want help, specifically, with essay writing, I offer essay writing workshops. I have written many high-scoring essays and, as a teacher, helped other students to do the same.
