Unlock your creative potential with personalized art lessons from an experienced fine artist and artisan! With more than two decades of expertise in experimental contemporary drawing, painting, and sculpture, I offer tailored instruction to help you elevate your artistic capabilities.
Whether you're a beginner looking to explore your passion or an experienced artist aiming to refine your technique or broaden the conceptual depth of your work, my lessons focus on fostering creativity and enhancing your unique style. Join me in a supportive environment where we can collaborate and push the boundaries of your artistic expression.
I focus on nurturing not only technical skills but also critical thinking and problem-solving through art. We will engage in discussions about various art movements and the works of both renowned and lesser-known artists, allowing students to understand the context and history of their work. I have an extensive database of artists and academic resources to help students with their research.
With an emphasis on the importance of feedback, my critiques will always be constructive and supportive, helping each student grow and refine their work.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I've known J for several years now and would absolutely recommend him as a teacher. He is a thoughtful, caring, and dedicated professional who loves to engage with people about and through art. We graduated from NSCAD' University's MFA program together just this past year. We have also exhibited together in a couple of different group shows (including one that I curated at the Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax, NS, titled "Terra/ Corpus," in 2023), where J was an amazing contributor.
I’ve only had 2 meetings with Jeremy and I already understand art differently. I see my art as a continuation of and contribution to the incredibly rich and diverse history of art. Art comes from the heart and Jeremy has lots! I highly recommend J for anyone who is serious about expanding their artistic outlook.
I have been very inspired since starting my sessions with Jeremy. His feedback has been so helpful, I feel now that I’m on track to a career as an artist. Deciding on a tutor was a difficult choice but I know I made the right one!
Awesome teacher!
JD enjoys sharing his expertise. He imparts his innovative techniques, and their rationale as lessons for students' benefit. Kind, enthusiastic, and methodical, JD is a dedicated, friendly teacher.
I have known JD since 2017. We met during our Concordia undergrad, and became colleagues through many insightful, incisive critiques during our classes. I was privileged to witness his impressive art practice development, which was continual through his Master’s evolution within NASCAD's Master’s program. His success as an artist is contingent on his love of painting, which is equal to his love of art history, and its connections to the world.
Knowledgeable, and passionate about art, JD loves to teach. I highly recommend him as an instructor to anyone that wants to learn from this dedicated, accomplished artist.
