About Samuel
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that music is for everyone, at every stage of life. I work almost exclusively with adult learners, many of whom are stepping into music as a new adventure. For some, it’s a lifelong dream delayed by careers or family obligations. For others, it’s a way to reduce stress, build focus, or rekindle creativity. My lessons emphasize musical independence and confidence. We use clear, step-by-step instruction that addresses tone, rhythm, and technique, but we also prioritize your comfort and enjoyment. I incorporate creative elements like guided improvisation, custom warm-up routines, and mindfulness-based breathing techniques to help you feel grounded while playing. Adult learners often bring thoughtful questions and a deep desire to understand music, and I love fostering that through open dialogue, music history stories, and flexible teaching materials. No matter your experience level, I will help you find your musical voice, one note at a time.

In addition to technique, we bring in a wide array of multi-sensory and creative exercises to help reinforce learning in dynamic and enjoyable ways. These include listening games that sharpen your ear and internalize melody and harmony; movement-based rhythm activities that ground timing in the body and make playing more intuitive; guided improvisation sessions that spark spontaneity and confidence; and even writing exercises that invite you to explore your personal connection to the music you’re playing. For students interested in composing, arranging, or even journaling about their musical growth, we weave those practices seamlessly into the lessons.
