I have 9 years of experience as a piano tutor, blending my academic training in a Bachelor of Music in Sacred Music with practical skills on both piano and organ. My passion lies in historical piano styles like ragtime, stride, and early jazz. I enjoy sharing this rich musical heritage with my students. I work with both school-aged learners and adults, tailoring lessons to each person’s goals and interests. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your understanding of these unique styles, I provide clear guidance and support. My approach balances technique, history, and expressive playing. My teaching approach focuses on helping students develop improvisation skills across jazz, blues, and pop styles. I guide learners through melodic development to craft strong and interesting musical ideas. We also explore comping patterns and how to create spontaneous arrangements that fit different musical settings.
I believe creative freedom and musical spontaneity are essential for any pianist. Lessons are designed to encourage experimentation and personal expression. I work well with jazz pianists and pop players, offering clear and consistent feedback to support their progress.
