About Isla
With over five years of experience, I specialize in guitar instruction tailored to students with learning differences such as ADHD, dyslexia, and anxiety. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music (Guitar), with additional training in music therapy and special education strategies. My teaching style is adaptive and strengths-based, focusing on what each student *can* do to build confidence and motivation. I believe music should be accessible to everyone, regardless of learning style. That’s why I use flexible lesson plans, multi-sensory tools, and a calm, supportive approach. Whether it’s breaking down chords into visual patterns or using rhythm games to improve focus, I meet students where they are. I’ve helped beginners, intermediate players, and even reluctant learners find joy in the guitar. Sessions are designed to be engaging, structured, and rooted in each student’s unique pace and interests. We explore everything from pop and rock to acoustic storytelling, with room for creativity and self-expression. Music can be a powerful tool for growth, and I’m here to support that journey. No pressure, just progress—one chord at a time. Everyone has a place in music, and I’m honored to help you find yours.

Music theory is woven into every session, helping you understand not just how to play, but why it works. We explore topics like key signatures, chord construction, and rhythm reading to deepen your musical understanding. For students aiming to perform or compose, I offer lessons in improvisation, songwriting, and arrangement.
Modern tools like amp modeling apps, DAWs, and digital tuners are used to make learning more effective and fun. I also help students record their progress, analyze tone, and learn the basics of studio work. Every lesson is interactive, practical, and focused on results.
I work well with students who are ready to dig deep into their passion—whether that’s shredding lead lines or mastering technique-rich compositions. My goal is to help you grow both technically and artistically. With guidance, patience, and the right tools, you’ll gain skills that last a lifetime.
