About Preston

I’m a guitar tutor with over 2 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Studio Music and Jazz, with Guitar as my principal instrument. My passion lies in using the guitar as a storytelling tool, especially in film scoring and video game soundtracks. I teach Electric, Acoustic, Classical, and Bass Guitar, helping students explore their roles in cinematic and interactive music. From ambient textures to bold melodic themes, I guide learners in shaping sounds that evoke mood and meaning. I specialise in atmospheric layering, thematic development, and blending guitar with sound design. Whether you're building a haunting scene or an epic battle sequence, I’ll show you how to make the guitar fit seamlessly. I also work with DAWs, teaching students how to record, edit, and arrange their ideas with professional software. Lessons often include both creative and technical skills, so students gain the full picture of media composition. My teaching style is student-centred and flexible. About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on building a strong and reliable rhythmic foundation. I guide students through rhythm guitar techniques, strumming patterns, picking dynamics, and groove development across styles like folk, rock, worship, and acoustic pop. Each lesson is structured to help you develop steady timing, clear articulation, and strong musical feel. We break rhythms down into simple parts and build them up with repetition and musical examples. I work especially well with Fingerstyle Enthusiasts and Worship Leaders who want to add depth and precision to their playing. Whether you're aiming to lead a group or improve your solo arrangements, I’ll help you master the tools you need. Together, we’ll study rhythmic phrasing, percussive accents, and chord transitions. You’ll learn how to lock into the beat and bring emotion into every strum and pick. Lessons are practical and hands-on, with immediate feedback to keep your growth on track. I also help you apply these skills to real songs you love. Over time, your rhythm will feel natural, steady, and expressive. You’ll confidently lay down the perfect groove, no matter the setting.
