About Emily

Singing is a conversation between your heart and the world—and my job is to help you speak fluently. For over 7 years, I’ve worked with students from school and college backgrounds to build voices that are not only technically strong but emotionally resonant. Whether you’re preparing for a musical, building confidence for solo performances, or simply exploring your creative side, I’ll meet you where you are and guide you toward where you want to go.

Our work begins with the building blocks of good singing: breath support, alignment, resonance, diction, and range development. But we don’t stop at the technical. We dig into the why behind the music—how to convey meaning, how to make a phrase feel personal, how to connect your story to a song. Each lesson is tailored to the student, whether you’re a pop enthusiast, a Broadway fan, or curious about jazz phrasing. I regularly use themed exercises, like “emotion layering” or “vocal mood shifts,” to help students interpret a song beyond just the melody. We also utilize tools like recording playbacks, pitch trackers, and customized warm-up tracks to promote steady growth and mindful practice.

My lessons are You’ll be challenged in ways that stretch your skills without ever feeling out of your depth. And because vocal health is essential to long-term success, I teach all students about hydration, fatigue prevention, vocal care during illness, and how to recognize strain before it becomes a problem. We also explore performance skills—how to own the stage, how to manage nerves, and how to bring your full self into every moment. My students leave not only with better technique, but with more joy, courage, and ownership of their artistic voice. No matter your starting point, I’ll help you grow into the singer—and storyteller—you were meant to be.

About the lesson

The voice is an organic, expressive instrument influenced by anatomy, emotion, and cultural storytelling. My teaching emphasizes a balanced development of technical skill, artistic interpretation, cultural literacy, and personal perseverance. Technical work includes breath control, vocal fold balance, resonance focus, and smooth registration, taught through mindful exercises that prioritize health and flexibility.

Expression is cultivated by guiding students to engage with the emotional and narrative layers of repertoire, using techniques like visualization, dramatic interpretation, and phrase shaping to create authentic performances. Cultural literacy is integral; we explore the origins, historical context, and social meaning of music to promote informed and respectful artistic choices.

Perseverance is fostered through personalized goal-setting, regular feedback, and reflective practice routines that help students navigate the natural challenges of vocal growth with resilience. My studio provides a supportive and inspiring environment where singers develop technical mastery, expressive depth, and cultural sensitivity in harmony.
