About Chelsea
I have been teaching in public schools for three years. I have tutoring off and on for four. My normal caseload of students in 25 to 30, and in class I try my best to pair students up or put them into groups in order to give as much small group attention as possible.
My greatest accomplishment in regards to maths is one particular student: he went from being unable to add or subtract, to solving 400 multiplication facts in under 20 minutes within a year. Finding a tool he enjoyed was the key to helping him learn.

I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a science degree in Elementary Education. I currently teach upper level elementary, specifically 5th-grade math this year. I have worked at the region's community college as both a children's tutor and adult student tutor in both math and reading.
My preferred method of teaching is to try and establish different methods to solve problems, so that whatever strategy works can be used. It doesn't matter how you get to an answer, as long as the answer is correct! I also try to incorporate as much model drawing and hands-on manipulatives as possible, when circumstances allow.
