About Subi
Tutoring has been a constant part of my life since 2008 when I became a tutor at McGill University while pursuing my studies in mechanical engineering. I have tutored much of college and university level mathematics over the past decade and a half, including calculus (introductory, intermediate & advanced), linear algebra, and differential equations (ordinary/ODEs & partial/PDEs)*. In addition, I have also tutored introductory physics (mechanics & electromagnetism) *regularly. Thanks to my continued tutoring experience, I can teach these subjects with ease and efficiency as well as assess the students’ comfort level and knowledge of the content to identify the kind of guidance that would benefit them urgently to get them going in their course. Furthermore, I can communicate the fundamentals of each course to new learners as well as offer insights and study tips tailored to each student. Together, this coherent approach results in a custom tutoring experience for the student, which also helps in sustaining focus and learning throughout the course, a must for most mathematics courses as they often have a cumulative nature and are prerequisites for other CEGEP and university courses. *course numbers at McGill correspond to MATH 271 (ENGR 311 at Concordia), MATH 264, MATH 263, MATH 262, MATH 133, MATH 141, MATH 140; PHYS 101, PHYS 131, PHYS 102, PHYS 142 (PHYS 205 at Concordia)

- Prioritize each session based on the immediate requirements (e.x. deadlines, exams, etc).
- Focus on the pertinent information for beginners, expand on the details systematically with each session without overwhelming the student.
- Illustrate how all the topics form a coherent picture within each course which helps students tackle final exam questions.
- Inspire students to brainstorm and think through the problems independently.
- Cultivated the above methodology and techniques during my 15+ years of tutoring and academic experience.
- Primary experience teaching university students in mathematics (calculus-all levels, linear algebra, differential equations*), physics, and mechanical engineering (statics, dynamics**). Have also taught students in CEGEP, high school, and middle school.
*including the MATH 271 course at McGill
** including mechanical vibrations or the MECH 315 course (mechanics III) at McGill
- Winter 2025: actively tutoring calculus II (integration), physics (electromagnetism and optics), and linear algebra
Review
All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the teacher's students.
Perfect! She explained the problems very well and was patient during the session
Perfect! Very patient and articulated!
Perfect! Subi is an amazing math teacher! My nine grader who is in the tenth grade program is making a huge progress with Subi and is confident about her math skills and upcoming exams. One of the biggest strengths of Subi is explaining math concepts in a bigger context and picture, which is an amazing approach in terms of understanding math and how it applies to real life. In the same time, Subi is able to explain all these concepts in basic and comprehensible ways, which makes math learning easy and fun! On top of all that, Subi is just a lovely person and super patient! I give Subi five stars and highly recommending!

I have known Subi since our time together as graduate students. We shared the same office space, working on our respective different fields of specialized topics. She was my go to person when I had to tackle a trickly heat transfer problem semi-analytically. The method that applied to the problem was new to her as well as it is not taught in undergraduate courses. However, she was able to see how and why it works and consequently, we were able to apply it to my problem successfully because I was also able to validate it with another numerical method. Subi’s guidance was both a review of basic PDEs as well as a learning venture that ultimately became a key contribution in my thesis
Subi was able to simplify many of the notions I was learning in Cal 1 that I had trouble understanding. After the first session with her, I could tell that she had a lot of experience and could handle my questions on the spot. She knows all her formulas/rules which creates a productive session. She is not condescending at all when answering my questions, which shows me that she cares about my success.
I hired Subi for a handful of tutoring sessions while taking linear algebra and partial differential equations at McGill, which is considered to be one of the harder classes in the mechanical engineering curriculum.
Before our tutoring sessions, I struggled to understand the concepts behind the equations, and couldn’t figure out how to solve the problems.
Subi took the time to explain everything to me, brilliantly putting the puzzle pieces together. She was always on time, prepared, and well equipped to answer my difficult questions.
With her help, everything became much clearer. My confidence and abilities skyrocketed.
Her understanding of the material, paired with her great communication and teaching skills make her a fantastic tutor, and one that I would highly recommend, especially when it comes to high level mathematics.I hired Subi for a handful of tutoring sessions while taking linear algebra and partial differential equations at McGill, which is considered to be one of the harder classes in the mechanical engineering curriculum.
