About Ryan

I am a 20 year old University student currently attending Victoria University of Wellington. I am originally from West Auckland and completed my first year of study with University of Auckland.

In regards to the subjects I teach, I had a major interest in each of them in my later years of High School.

- English was a subject I felt as though I could be creative in and enabled me to develop an opinion into a structured argument.
- Economics was my primary interest and has been my inspiration for the industry I wish to venture into in the future.
- Chinese was a subject that challenged me. It was a subject that I knew I wanted to pursue until I completely mastered it.
Each of these subjects were the basis of my current field of study.

On a personal level, I also understand the difficulty of the secondary school system. It can be an extremely stressful experience to live up to personal expectations, whether it may be excelling in a subject or just passing the year. Knowing that I was once in a similar position, I feel obliged to help students achieve their goals so they have one less worry moving forward.

Techniques and Teaching Methodology:
My approach to tutoring is rooted to adhere to the NCEA marking rubric, ensuring that students receive instruction aligned with their curriculum requirements. However, I understand that each student is different, so I tailor my methodology to accommodate individual learning styles and needs. I will make sure you're up to speed with what you need to know, while also making it interesting and relevant to you.

Typical Length of a Lesson:
My lesson length is flexible due to a relatively consistent University schedule. Therefore, lesson lengths can vary according to your preferences and needs, whether it's a concise 2-hour session or an intensive 4-hour block. Rest assured these lessons will be engaging and meticulously planned to be effective if the occasion of a long tutoring session arises.

Qualifications/Experience:
While I may not possess formal qualifications as a tutor, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. Having recently navigated through the High School landscape myself, I am very familiar with the NCEA guidelines and structure. With my current University studies, I continue to master the skills and knowledge of the subjects I performed well in and now have decided to teach!

Target Audience:
My tutoring services primarily cater to NCEA students seeking support in various subjects. However, I am also equipped to assist year 9 and 10 students in their preparation for NCEA. Additionally, I offer Chinese language tutoring tailored for introductory or beginner proficiency levels, suitable for learners of all ages.
