About Jameson

I am a jersey-based singer-songwriter in residency in Baltimore this summer. I started playing guitar and writing songs when I was 13, and haven't stopped since. In college I studied Musical Theater performance and earned a B.F.A. from Pace University. I also began releasing music during this time. In 2020 (during the covid pandemic), I co-founded the psychedelic folk/rock band, "Brig Aurora," and in 2021 we released our first EP.

In 2022, I graduated from NYU Tisch with an M.F.A. in Music Composition, and Brig Aurora released its debut self-titled album.

I love writing introspective songs about growing up and the complexities of romantic relationships. In total, the songs I have written, or played on, have amassed more than 56 thousand streams on digital music platforms (not Coldplay numbers, but I'm still proud of it).

Some places I have performed at include: 54 Below (NYC), The Olympic Tower (NYC), Cowgirl Seahorse (NYC), and The Grape Room (Philadelphia).

When not playing/writing music, I love to read (especially thrillers), play basketball, go to the movies, and talk philosophy.

About the lesson

If you are looking to be a classical guitarist with flawless technique, I might not be the teacher for you. But, if you want to learn how to jam, rock out, express yourself musically, and experiment with the guitar to find your own unique style, I can definitely help. I like to focus on playing songs and music YOU want to learn, as well as encouraging you to try composing your own tunes. I also specialize in finger-picking and open/unique tunings. Genres: rock, folk, pop, musical theater

Perfect! James is an authentic person and a patient tutor, which is helpful as a learner wanting to fuel a passion for the instrument. I was taught some beginner chords, including some in a Claire song.

My first lesson with Kamara was great! We talked about music, learned a clairo song, and went over some basic chords. It was a very chill and positive atmosphere. Kamara is a very talented musician, and a very cool person.
