About Emily
Hi, I’m a guitar tutor with a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music (Guitar) and over 12 years of experience playing and teaching. My background blends formal academic training with real-world experience across genres like rock, classical, folk, and blues. I believe every student brings their own style, and I work to nurture that while building strong technique and musical understanding. Whether you're just picking up the guitar or returning after a break, I create lessons that are clear, supportive, and tailored to your pace. I enjoy working with both young learners and adult students, helping them grow in confidence and creativity. Lessons include everything from chords and scales to music theory, improvisation, and performance skills. My approach is hands-on and song-based, so you start making music from day one. I also help students explore songwriting, develop a good ear, and learn to express themselves through the guitar. It's never too early or too late to start. With patience and guidance, you’ll not only improve—you’ll enjoy the journey. Let’s make music together.

My guitar teaching approach is flexible, creative, and built around each student’s unique goals and musical taste. I teach students of all levels—from those just starting out to those wanting to explore advanced techniques. Lessons are a mix of structure and freedom, combining music theory with hands-on playing.
I focus on helping students find their own sound while building strong fundamentals in rhythm, chord progressions, and technique. We explore a variety of styles including fingerstyle, acoustic, electric, and even classical approaches. For those interested in songwriting, I offer guidance on crafting lyrics, creating chord structures, and expressing emotion through harmony and dynamics.
I often use backing tracks, ear training, and improvisation to build confidence and expression. My lessons include lyric accompaniment and melody development for those wanting to sing and play. I work especially well with learners who are starting later in life or who prefer a calm, patient pace.
Every student is encouraged to grow at their rhythm, enjoying the process as much as the progress. With the right support and consistent practice, anyone can become a confident and expressive guitarist.
