About Jillian

I am a passionate guitar tutor with a bachelor’s degree in music and 5 years of dedicated teaching experience. My love for guitar started in my teens, and over the years, I have honed my skills through both formal training and practical performance. Teaching allows me to share my knowledge and enthusiasm, helping students develop their own musical voices and enjoy the process of learning. Throughout my teaching career, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students—from absolute beginners to intermediate players aiming to improve their technique and musicality. I tailor my lessons to each student’s goals and learning style, whether they want to play for fun, prepare for exams, or perform on stage. My focus is on building solid foundations in chords, rhythm, and fingerstyle while encouraging creativity and personal expression. My teaching philosophy centers on patience, clear communication, and fostering a positive learning environment. I believe every student learns best when lessons are engaging, structured, and aligned with their interests. I emphasize practical skills and musical theory in a way that feels accessible, so students can apply what they learn in real musical contexts and gain confidence quickly. Outside of teaching, I continue to grow as a musician through performing, recording, and collaborating with other artists. This keeps me inspired and ensures that my teaching reflects current trends and techniques. Above all, I am committed to helping each student discover the joy and satisfaction that comes from playing guitar well.

About the lesson

My guitar lessons are designed to be both structured and flexible, catering to beginners and intermediate players alike. Whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time or hoping to refine your technique, each session is tailored to your goals, pace, and preferred music style. I aim to make learning feel natural and enjoyable, with lessons that focus on progress and creativity.

We cover core topics such as open and barre chords, strumming techniques, fingerpicking, and rhythm development. I emphasize building strong fundamentals while applying them through familiar songs and exercises. Students gradually gain the ability to play with fluency, understand the fretboard, and transition between chords smoothly. Lessons may also include music theory essentials that enhance overall understanding and playing ability.

Depending on your interests, we can explore acoustic or electric guitar styles, covering genres like pop, rock, folk, or blues. Improvisation, basic songwriting, and soloing techniques are introduced when students are ready to branch out. Each lesson blends technical skill-building with creative application to keep the experience fun and motivating.

My teaching approach fosters a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and trying new things.
