About Daniella

Hi everyone! My name's Dani and I'm a professional private tutor based in Vancouver with 10 years of full-time experience tutoring high school students, and over 16 years of experience including part-time. I've had 200+ happy students over a fulfilling 10-year career and I'm excited to welcome more.

After finishing high school with results in the top 0.03% of my cohort, I completed both a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Arts. I tutored part-time through my studies and I loved it so much that I turned tutoring into a rewarding full-time business not long after graduating.

I know the formula for doing well in high-school, and I've spent 16 years teaching students how to master it. I love teaching and I love my students - I'm still very good friends with a lot of my students who have graduated in years past.

About the lesson

I'd describe my teaching style as somewhere between coach, cheerleader and mentor.

Our work in each lesson begins with a discussion about what you're learning at school and how well you've understood the content. Each lesson is tailored to your needs, but I also make sure we are fully prepared for each upcoming assignment or exam. When we have time between assessments, we work on general English skills (such as thesis writing, essay writing, creative skills etc) and/or individual Math topics, using a database of content and practice exams that I've gathered together over the years. I like to take my time ensuring students master every step of this work before moving on.

For my English students, in every lesson, we begin with a chat about how your week has been, what has inspired you and what you've struggled with. I want our lessons to feel comforting and welcoming so that you are inspired to express yourself with confidence and to think laterally (which means to think outside the box).

In the weeks before major exams, we turn from content work to exam practice. I conduct fully-timed practice exams which allow my students to work on exam skills in a safe environment, with lots of feedback, before heading into the actual exam.

ENGLISH
• $45 per 1 hour lesson
• $60 per 1.5 hour lesson

MATH
• $40 per 1 hour lesson
• $55 per 1.5 hour lesson

All lessons are one-to-one.

Please note: even though I offer 1 hour lessons, I've found that 1.5 hours per week is the perfect lesson length for both English and Math.

I would recommend one class per week and I've found that two or more classes per week in the weeks before major exams are very beneficial.
