About Bita
I’m an honors Biology student, who currently is a Teaching Assistant at the University of British Columbia. I have extensive experience both tutoring intro Biology (cell biology, genetics, physiology) as well as reading and grading biology papers, and privately tutoring for university and high school level. Students go on to improve their grades and receive high marks. I've not only been a TA, but have had 2 papers published in European Urology Focus journal; I have worked as a researcher at the Vancouver Prostate Centre, conducting in-lab experiments, speaking at conferences, and training various other students starting in the field. I am consistently performing at the top of my class. I received a 5 on my Biology, Environmental Sciences, and Statistics AP exams, and am very familiar with the content of the courses listed above. Understanding how to study for examinations and maximize learning is knowledge only gained with extensive experience, which is information I seek to pass on.

Oftentimes, high schools and universities do not properly teach foundational biology knowledge, which can be detrimental to your understanding of future concepts in the field. I aim to work 1-1 with students to improve their understanding of difficult biological concepts, and their academic skill set. I help them learn through ensuring they have a secure foundation, which is key to grasping more complicated upper-level biology. I can also help students to properly read and grasp academic papers. Interpreting published papers and building on that knowledge is an essential skill for a science undergraduate student; this process can be made much easier through guided explanations of academic paper structures, and practice. On average, my students are able to improve their grade and vastly cut down on their study time.
