About Grace

I am currently a passionate mathematics major studying to become a high school math teacher and college professor. I have tutored children as young as 2nd and 3rd grade as well as high school students over the course of 4 years.

About the lesson

As much as I enjoy the challenge of a difficult math problem, I understand that many students do not feel the same way. When I am teaching, I approach each topic by first asking what the student already knows about it and then have them attempt to solve a problem from the topic. Making mistakes is how we grow. This way, I can see where the student is struggling. Then, I explain how to solve the rest of the problem as well as different variations of the problem. From there, I give the student multiple examples to try on their own with my guidance until they feel confident, comfortable and capable. If I or they feel that they still don’t quite understand the topic, I will resort to some of my favorite math YouTube channels created by math teachers and majors. After doing so, I will give the students a few more examples to try afterward and possibly provide some examples to practice after the session is over (only if they need it). I am always ready to give my all to students and give as much time, energy, and encouragement as I can.
