About Emily
During my PhD, I wrote hundreds of lines of AI, C++ and Python to simulate complex physics problems. I learned firsthand that writing clean code and tracking down bugs can be intimidating—so I make debugging demonstrations a centerpiece of my teaching. I’ll walk you through writing efficient, well-structured code, explain why certain patterns work better, and cheer you on as you build your first mini-project. My goal is for you to feel confident reading, writing, and optimizing code by the end of each lesson.

My programming lessons blend foundational concepts—data types, control flow, object-oriented design—with hands-on coding practice. We start with short lectures explaining syntax and logic, then move to live coding exercises (building simple games or data-analysis scripts). Each session includes a debugging demonstration to highlight best practices. Homework consists of incremental coding challenges and short reading assignments on design patterns.
