About Colin

After a civil service career in IT and Math I'm now retired and loving picking up A Level / IB / NCEA 3 Calculus and Statistics again. I do the exam papers in my spare time for amusement - really! I've now got time to explore teaching and tutoring properly, which I've really always wanted to do - and which people tell me I'm very good at. As I get into this you wouldn't be my first student, though you'd certainly be an 'early' one. I put high value on (a) assessing 'where you are', so we can firm that up and go forward from there, (b) explaining carefully what the deeper ideas are, so you really understand what you're doing, and (c) learning how to 'attack' those exam papers with confidence and clarity.

About the lesson

Aim: to assess a student's needs and then tutor to reinforce and extend capability, using relevant course material and exam questions.

Topics: Calculus (Complex Numbers, Differentiation, Integration) and Statistics (Evaluating Reports, Probability Concepts, Probability Distributions)

Length: Probably hour-long sessions but open to different lengths.

Alongside full-time work I've tutored a few students in UK for A Level. Now retired in NZ I work on A Level / IB / NCEA 3 material for amusement (!) and I'm really keen to help others along the same path.
