About Tess

Hi, I’m a passionate vocal coach with over 5 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology, specializing in Vocal Traditions. My teaching is rooted in the rich world of vocal harmony, arrangement, and the power of voices blending together. I love working with singers to explore lush vocal textures—whether through group singing, A Cappella, or layered studio recordings. I specialize in harmony stacking, vocal blending, and arranging counter-melodies that bring songs to life. From Pop and R&B to Gospel and A Cappella, I teach a wide variety of styles and help vocalists find their unique voice within each genre. My lessons often combine traditional technique with creativity and musical expression. With a strong background in improvisation, composition, and music technology, I also support singers interested in recording and producing their own music. I work with school students, college learners, and aspiring professionals, tailoring each lesson to fit individual goals and learning styles. Whether you're preparing for performance, building a vocal arrangement, or learning how to sing with others, I’ll help you grow your skills and confidence. Together, we’ll explore the art of vocal arrangement, dive into harmony, and make music that feels alive. Lessons include insight into music history and practical tools for modern vocal production.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on helping singers develop strong vocal skills while preparing them for the real world of recording and performance. I combine traditional singing techniques with practical lessons on microphone use and studio recording etiquette. You will learn how to control your voice for different microphone types and how to position yourself for the best sound.

We also explore vocal layering and harmony stacking to create rich, full recordings. I teach how to work with common effects like reverb and delay to enhance your voice and add depth to your tracks. My lessons cover everything from warm-ups to recording sessions, so you feel confident in the studio.

I work closely with students of The Music Major and The Suzuki Student programs, helping them sound polished and professional. Whether you’re recording a demo or preparing for live streaming, I guide you through every step. Together, we focus on making your unique voice stand out.

My goal is to help you master both singing and the technical skills needed to shine in recordings. Let’s work on making your performances sound clear, balanced, and expressive. With a mix of fun exercises and real-world tips, you’ll gain the tools to excel in any vocal setting.
