About Evelyn
I am a passionate singing tutor with over 10 years of experience helping students discover and develop their unique voices. Holding a **Bachelor’s degree in Music**, I bring both academic knowledge and real-world performance insight into every lesson. My teaching spans **Classical, Pop, Rock, and Country**, giving students the freedom to explore their favorite styles while expanding their vocal range. I believe in a **balanced approach**—lessons blend vocal technique with ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory to build well-rounded singers. Each session is **personalized** to fit the student’s goals, whether that’s preparing for auditions, building confidence, or simply finding joy in singing. Beginners learn to form healthy vocal habits early, while advanced students refine tone, control, and performance presence. I also emphasize the **connection between voice and expression**, encouraging students to communicate emotion through music. Together, we work on stage confidence, phrasing, and storytelling to create performances that truly resonate. Both the Soloist in Training and the Church Ensemble Player thrive when vocal wellness is their foundation. Each practice begins with **mindful breathwork**—a few minutes of slow, measured inhales using a guided breathwork tool like *Breathwrk* or *Calm* to center the body and mind. Gentle **warm-ups**—lip trills, humming, and sirens—prepare the voice without strain, creating a smooth, healthy start for solo passages or choral harmonies alike. Hydration is non-negotiable: sip room-temperature water throughout the day, and keep a water bottle nearby during rehearsals.
The Soloist in Training should focus on **healthy vocal placement**, exploring resonance and head voice without pushing, using simple apps like *Vocalizer* to track range and stamina. The Church Ensemble Player can add **blend-awareness drills**, practicing light, balanced tones that support ensemble cohesion without losing individual warmth. Both should schedule **mindfulness breaks**, perhaps with a soft chime from a timer like *Insight Timer*, to pause, breathe, and release tension between practice segments.
Above all, this methodology nurtures joy. Singing isn’t just a skill; it’s a space for calm, connection, and expression. By combining mindful routines with practical tools, both personas can sustain their voices—and their love for music—for years to come.
