About Alexander
Teaching guitar for over 9 years has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, especially working with students in school and college who come with diverse backgrounds and aspirations. I firmly believe that every student’s musical journey should be tailored to their individual needs and passions. My teaching philosophy centers on blending solid technical foundations with creative exploration to keep lessons engaging and motivating. From the outset, I focus on developing proper hand technique, chord changes, rhythm, and timing, building the skills necessary for confident and expressive playing. I integrate practical music theory so students not only learn how to play but also understand the structure and language of music. Creativity plays a key role in my lessons; I encourage improvisation, songwriting, and exploring different styles to help students develop their unique voice. One of my proudest moments was mentoring a group of students who formed a band, supporting them as they performed live and grew in confidence and collaboration. Beyond guitar skills, I emphasize life skills such as patience, focus, discipline, and emotional expression—qualities that serve students well in music and life. I create a positive, patient, and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to experiment, make mistakes, and grow at their own pace. Whether you want to play for enjoyment or professional development, I am dedicated to helping you achieve your goals with encouragement and expert guidance.

My method for teaching Guitar is rooted in two key ideas: musical relevance and personal empowerment. We don’t just learn Guitar for the sake of it—we learn to express, to connect, and to create. From day one, we build a strong foundation in the fundamentals: clean chord transitions, timing, basic strumming, and fretboard familiarity. But we immediately apply those basics to the kind of music you actually want to play.
If you’re into indie rock, we’ll be exploring arpeggios and dynamics. If you like blues, we’ll work on pentatonic phrasing and bending techniques. This way, your technical progress is always anchored in real songs, not just theoretical exercises. I place a big emphasis on clear communication—breaking down each concept in a way that’s easy to grasp, even if you’ve never picked up an instrument before. Lessons are interactive: I check in constantly to see how you’re feeling about the material, and I adjust the plan in real time based on your comfort level and progress. I also use a wide variety of tools to match your learning style.
Visual learners might benefit from scale diagrams and chord shapes, while auditory learners might prefer call-and-response ear training or playing along to drum grooves. Kinesthetic learners may learn best through hands-on repetition and improvisation. I also incorporate real-life musician stories and case studies to show you how others have overcome common challenges—things like stage fright, sloppy timing, or plateauing motivation. We also spend time on adjacent skills that make you a complete musician: how to practice smart (not just long), how to build a setlist, how to adjust your playing based on the band you’re in, and how to express yourself confidently whether you’re in a studio or a backyard jam session. My goal is to help you grow your skills and your musical identity at the same time.
