About Deron
I grew up playing chess throughout grade school and high school, competing in local, state, and national tournaments. Over time, I developed a deep passion for the game—both as a competitor and a lifelong student. On (concealed information), I rank among the Top 1% in Puzzle Rating and Tactics, the Top 0.3% in Daily Games, and the Top 5% across all other categories, with an approximate playing strength of 1800. Today, I use part-time work to support my ministry and other theocratic activities, and chess provides a meaningful intersection of passion and purpose. Through teaching, I get to share my love for the game while engaging with great minds—both young and experienced.

I offer personalized chess training for all levels—from complete beginners to advanced competitors—at affordable rates. • ♟ Beginners: $20/hour • Intermediate to Advanced: $25/hour Each session is structured to build tactical awareness, strategic understanding, and practical playing strength. Depending on your goals, I may assign homework and study between lessons to help you grow even faster. Bonus Challenge: If you beat me in a game during your lesson, you’ll get $5 back for that hour — a fun way to keep you motivated and sharp! (One rebate per hour.)
