About Mara
With 9 years of experience in chess instruction, I specialise in transforming casual players into thoughtful strategists. My coaching experience includes working with students from beginner to advanced levels, helping them improve performance and tactical awareness through individualised training. I emphasise not only what moves to make but why they matter. Through historical game studies, timed challenges, and tactical simulations, I aim to build players who are prepared for both classical games and faster time controls. I also provide mindset coaching for tournament readiness. My teaching is shaped by years of playing in rated tournaments and studying grandmaster play. I pass on practical insights and proven techniques, offering lessons that are intellectually stimulating, engaging, and results-driven.

These chess lessons guide players through every layer of the game—from the foundational principles to elite-level strategies. Early sessions cover essential tactics like forks, pins, and skewers, along with understanding board geometry and piece mobility. Students are gradually introduced to more complex strategic concepts such as pawn structures, space control, and dynamic sacrifices. Opening theory is practised through repeated drills and exploration of classical and modern systems, helping students build strong starts and seamless transitions to the mid-game. The lessons include match reviews, puzzle solving, and personalised analysis of each student’s style. Learners develop a competitive mindset and are equipped with practical tools for tournament settings. Every lesson builds analytical thinking, foresight, and resilience—on and off the board.
