About Scarlett

I am a native Mandarin speaker, born and raised in China, with a Grade A Level 1 Mandarin Proficiency Certificate. Having studied in the UK since 2018 and now continuing my studies in Australia, I have grown up in both Chinese and English language environments. This background allows me to support learners with a clear understanding of both languages and cultures. Previously, I worked as an online Mandarin teacher at Spark Education for 3 years, where I taught children aged 3–12 in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Currently, I am studying Early Childhood Teaching at RMIT University in Melbourne, which gives me strong professional skills and experience in language education. Whether online or in-person, I create engaging and structured lessons to help learners of all ages build confidence and enjoy learning Chinese.

Passionate about making Chinese fun and engaging for children, students, and adults through stories, games, and real-life conversations. My Approach to Tutoring I believe learning Mandarin should be enjoyable, interactive, and meaningful. My teaching style combines practical communication skills with cultural knowledge, so students not only learn the language but also understand the traditions, stories, and everyday contexts behind it. Techniques & Methodology • Student-centered approach tailored to each learner’s goals • For beginners: focus on pinyin, basic vocabulary, and simple sentence patterns through games, songs, and visual aids • For intermediate and advanced learners: emphasis on conversation practice, grammar refinement, and reading authentic materials • Bilingual explanations (Mandarin + English) to make lessons clear and build confidence Typical Lesson Length • Standard lesson: 60 minutes • Younger children: 45 minutes • Advanced learners: 90 minutes Qualifications & Experience • Native Mandarin speaker, fluent in English • Currently completing a Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching at RMIT University (Melbourne) • Experience in tutoring both children and adults, with strong focus on interactive, play-based, and engaging teaching methods Who Are My Lessons For • Children (from 4 years old upwards) curious about learning Mandarin through play, songs, and stories • School students who want extra support in Chinese classes • Adults learning Mandarin for travel, business, or personal interest • Suitable for beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners, with lessons tailored to individual needs
