Reading faster is going to require some practice. To be an efficient speed reader, you have to retain around 90% of the information. There is no point in reading faster if you can't keep the information. Your first step in speed reading is getting a baseline for your speed. There is different software online you can use, or you time yourself. It's best to take the average of 5 minutes reading compared to just timing for 1 minute. You'll be more consistent.

A quick tip for improving your reading speed is to skim the text before you start reading. You're looking at any main key points that jump out to you. Look for bolded words, headlines, and different fonts. Skimming the text beforehand, you can start to get a good idea about what the text is about.
