I bring the learning skills of a professional classical musician and advanced language learner to my teaching. I have years of experience teaching language learning (and music), and have taught in private language schools in Australia, China and Japan, and at two universities overseas.

I prefer to teach students who aim to have high-level Mandarin skills, but I am also happy to teach students who just want to learn enough to get by on a trip to China.
I believe that language lessons should be structured and focused, interesting and engaging, and with a focus on real-context input (we need to get a strong 'feeling' for the language.)
I believe that most people struggle with motivation and knowing how to study at home, so I also help my students with their own self-study skills.
