About Patrick
My experience as a professional educator has been in secondary education, as well as the collegiate and private sectors. I have taught courses in English Literature, Shakespeare, cultural diversity, creative writing, stage combat, and others. I also was a professional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor for over a decade.
I obtained my Master's in Teaching from National Louis University in Illinois in 2016 with a focus on English Language and supplemental endorsements in Drama/Theater, Special Education, and English as a Second Language.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2010, where I also pursued minors in English (Literature and Creative Writing) and Philosophy.

My pedagogical principles are simple:
-Meet students where they are at, daily, and work together to create a cooperative learning environment.
-Provide students with opportunities that create intrinsic motivation to support long term learning habits.
-Authoritative, not authoritarian. Involving the student in the creation of the curriculum.
A "typical" lesson will depend on goals and subject matter, but will usually be comprised of varying types of assessments, followed by constructive discussions regarding analysis, habits, goal-setting, projects, etc.
