About Damon
I am currently working towards a PhD in atmospheric chemistry (specifically air quality) and this comes with a strong passion for environmental science and outreach!
I was a public school teacher, and my experience mainly involved working with special needs and ELL students in large classroom settings. I also have 1 on 1 tutoring experience at the college level, and experience teaching chemistry at the college level.

During remote lessons, I like to use virtual white boards coupled with student driven learning. This usually involves question and answer sessions, which evolve into conversations about the 'why' and 'how' science works.
I prefer to see what their teacher is utilizing, and work with the parent to modify the lesson to best fit the student's need. This means that there is no a 'one size fits all' for teaching the student, and we will take full advantage of the one-on-one learning environment.
I excel at teaching high school chemistry, earth science, physics, and math. I can also work with college-level students in introductory chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, and inorganic chemistry.
I am also happy to help edit college and graduate school application letters, or edit college level laboratory reports; however, I will not write the report/statement of purpose for the student (as that breaks academic integrity).

The free first lesson acts as a consultation between the tutor and parent/student (and primary educator if they would like to be involved). Here, we will work together to identify the student's strengths/weaknesses and how we can improve their knowledge gaps!
