About Mara

I’ve been teaching French for over 3 years, supported by a PhD in French Linguistics. My work centers on teenagers aged 13–18, and I’ve learned they thrive when lessons connect to their world. I use French youth culture as a bridge—music, social media, and film make learning fun and relatable. These resources also expose students to authentic expressions and slang. I emphasize conversational fluency so teens can communicate with ease. Lessons are interactive, with plenty of space for students to practice speaking naturally. I believe memorization works best when it’s tied to real experiences. That’s why I design lessons that stick in their minds through cultural relevance. Teens need to feel both engaged and respected in their learning. I aim to create that balance in every class. Watching them gain confidence with every word is my favorite part of teaching. Together, we’ll make French a language they enjoy using, not just studying.

About the lesson

I believe French learning should feel lively, chic, and inspiring. That’s why I bring fashion into the classroom. Lessons cover design vocabulary, describing trends, and understanding haute couture. We also talk about the fashion industry to make learning relevant and fun. My goal is to create a warm, interactive environment where students feel free to express themselves. I am especially skilled at working with Conversationalists who want natural fluency. I also guide Immigrants and Newcomers, helping them feel confident in their new setting. Activities are tailored to each student’s needs and interests. For example, we might practice describing an outfit, analyzing a collection, or talking about current trends. These activities make vocabulary stick and conversations flow naturally. I believe in nurturing both skill and creativity. Lessons are joyful, supportive, and engaging. With my guidance, French becomes stylish, memorable, and easy to love.
