About Henry
In 5 years of piano teaching, I’ve worked with over 150 students, tailoring lessons to individual needs and interests. I focus on building a strong technical foundation—finger independence, rhythm, sight-reading—while encouraging expressive playing through phrasing, dynamics, and tone. Theory and improvisation are incorporated to deepen musical understanding and stimulate creativity. I adapt lessons to match each student’s tastes, from classical to jazz to modern music. One memorable moment was helping a student overcome stage fright and deliver a confident recital performance, a milestone in their growth. I emphasize goal-setting and consistent practice to foster steady improvement and motivation. My mission is to cultivate confident, creative musicians with a lasting love for piano.

Piano teaching, for me, is all about connection—connecting students with the music they love, with their own creativity, and with the confidence to express themselves. I teach students of all ages and backgrounds, and no two lessons are ever the same.
That’s intentional. I design each session around the student's learning style, musical interests, and pace. Whether someone is just starting out or returning to piano after years away, I meet them where they are and help them move forward. My teaching includes traditional skills like sight-reading, finger technique, and rhythmic accuracy, but I also bring in modern elements such as playing by ear, improvisation, and even basic composition. I had one adult student who initially just wanted to learn holiday songs for their family gathering.
By the end of our work together, they were arranging their own medleys and recording them. Watching that evolution—seeing a student realize they can do more than they imagined—is what keeps me passionate about teaching. Music isn't just something you play; it's something you live. I make sure my students leave each lesson feeling capable, inspired, and eager to return to the keys.
